Worldwide—Ending Preventable Deaths (EPD) Support Programme
Client: Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office
Duration: 2025-2028
Region: Worldwide
Country: Global
Solutions: Global Health
The Ending Preventable Deaths (EPD) Support Programme supports the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s strategy for Contributing to Ending the Preventable Deaths of Mothers, Babies, and Children by 2030—and is a core component of FCDO’s global health strategy. The EPD Support Programme aims to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality by holistic action across key health pillars. These include strengthening health systems and financing, supporting equity and rights initiatives (including sexual and reproductive health), and promoting healthier lives and environments, including work on water, sanitation, and health (WASH), nutrition, and climate-health linkages. Under this project, DAI manages long- and short-term technical assistance assignments, coordinates strategic support and learning—both within the programme and across associated FCDO initiatives—and contributes to policy, planning, and implementation improvements, in collaboration with FCDO country teams and local stakeholders. Working globally, but with a particular emphasis on fragile contexts and a focus in 11 EPD flagship countries (Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Somalia, and South Sudan), the project aims to deliver high-quality, demand-responsive, targeted technical assistance to advance EPD objectives in partnership with stakeholders, while identifying and supporting synergies with FCDO’s diplomatic engagement to these same ends. Effective September 2020, the U.K. Department for International Development and the U.K. Foreign & Commonwealth Office merged to form the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). DAI projects conducted on behalf of those clients are now presented under the combined FCDO banner. xRELATED CONTENT:
